TDI Offroad – Jack Off Leg User Guide

The weight of your canopy is variable depending on the build design and any items that you have added to your canopy since purchase. Your canopy may vary in weight from 75kg (dry weight) to over 400kg when full loaded. For your safety, you need to exercise extreme caution while removing or installing your canopy. Knowing the weight of the canopy and its added accessories is very important as the lifting capacity of our legs for safety reasons is a maximum of 500kgs for canopies shorter than 1000mm and 350kgs for canopies longer than 1200mm.

Important notes for use of canopy jack off legs.

  • It is recommended that two adults be present during the process of removal and installation of the canopy. Please make sure that children are excluded from the area of moving vehicles and the canopy while removing or installing.
  • When choosing a site to store your canopy, give yourself plenty of vehicle manoeuvring room. The geography of the location where you remove and store your canopy is also very important. NEVER attempt to store your canopy on uneven or sloping ground. The location should be flat and a solid surface. E.g concrete garage floor or driveway.
  • It is advised that a canopy is not to be removed if fitted with a roof top tent, large awning or any other items that exceed over 35kgs on the canopy roof. Therefore, these items must be removed before the canopy is detached from the vehicle by the jack off legs to avoid risk of toppling over.
  • It is good practice to remove any unnecessary weight from the canopy to ensure that the canopy is as stable as possible during removal and installation.

Once your canopy is removed from the vehicle, lower the canopy to the lowest point on the jack legs. This will lower the centre of gravity and increase stability of the canopy on the Jack Legs. While in this position, please do not attempt to enter or exit the canopy, or climb onto the canopy roof. The legs are designed for ease of removal and refitting, not as a permanent storage option. Therefore, for larger canopies we recommend lowering onto a moveable dolly or a bench for safety.

Disclaimer: Any damages that occur due to improper use or by not following our guide will result in the canopy warranty being void. The operator accepts all liability for damages that occur when removing and refitting their canopy.
